WiseWrite Classroom

These Classroom Volunteers are officially called "WiseWrite Coaches". WiseWrite Coaches work directly with 5th graders in the WiseWrite language arts residency, a program where every student becomes a PLAYWRIGHT!

WiseWrite coaches assist students in the classroom each step of the way as they take their plays from idea to finished work. Classroom teachers and Springboard to Learning teaching artists are responsible for maintaining class order/behavior and following the lesson plan. Coaches act as support to the classroom teacher and the Springboard to Learning teaching artists.

Coaches should be available to work at least once a week for an 8-12 week period (early January through February/March). Morning and afternoon shifts are available. Coaches should attend the orientation on Thursday, January 5, 10:30 am-12:30 pm.

(After your job is done, Coaches can also assist with Readers’ Theatre in March and attend the WiseWrite Festival of One-Act Plays in the late spring, whether it’s virtual or live!)

Experience and interest in writing and teaching are preferred, but not necessary. Patience, a good rapport with children, and the ability to supportively guide students are the most important qualifications.
