The Center For Employment Opportunities, one of the few reentry service providers with a demonstrated impact on recidivism, is looking for volunteers to teach supplemental classes to people returning home after incarceration.
As a volunteer you will join a passionate team in engaging with returning citizens through education. You will design, and implement your own curriculum to best address student needs.
CEO San Bernardino is specifically looking for individuals qualified and/or certified in the areas of:
Computer Literacy
Adult Education
Financial Education
Nutrition
Communication
However, we welcome volunteers with expertise and/or certifications in any area to reach out to us so we can discuss how to best serve returning citizens in San Bernardino!

The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO)provides immediate, effective, and comprehensive employment services exclusively to individuals who have recently returned home from incarceration. Our vision is that anyone with a criminal record who wants to work has the preparation and support needed to find a job and stay connected to the labor force. We believe that everyone, regardless of their past, deserves the chance to shape a stronger future for themselves, their family, and their communities.
Description
What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 25,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996. Since 2009, CEO has gained support to expand its programs through government, nonprofit, and private organizations including the Federal Social Innovation Fund, the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, Robin Hood Foundation, and Rockefeller Foundation. In 2016, CEO embarked on a 5-year strategic plan to grow to serve 9,000 participants annually. CEO currently operates 31 sites across 12 states.
