Saving the landfill in Las Vegas and helping at risk individuals is what our rag project is all about. We recycle hotel linens while teaching job skills. After someone graduates from this program we help them get a job. We would love you to help! We have a good time doing GREAT things. Lighthouse Charities provides at risk individuals and local families, who are in need of job training, a place to learn the skills necessary to be successful, valuable employees in the workplace. The rag project is a partnership with Brady Linen, various hotels and Deseret Industries where old towels are recycled into rags to be used for cleaning. Volunteers work alongside program participants in -loading -sorting -cutting -serging -snipping -stacking -counting the finished rags. Program participants work from 9:00-3:00 Tuesday-Friday. Volunteers are welcome during any of those times and should not feel that they need to stay the entire day.

The need is greatestfrom 10:00-12:00 Tuesday-Friday since this is when the program participants are in language training and they get behind in the warehouse. There is no need to call ahead, just show up. Groups can also come even one time helps a great deal. Please let us know before you come.

Come in any time we are open to check us out or to start work right away. Check out the photo under Additional Information to see two of our past participants. One is an American woman with 8 kids who had never graduated from High School or held a job. She said that she was learning how to get up in the morning, budget her money, be responsible and got motivated to start studying for her GED. These type of stories are normal at Lighthouse. We also have several refugees and other immigrants. It is a fun mini United Nations. You will love being here.
