Drivers needed in St Lucie County.

Road to Recovery volunteer drivers provide patients with transportation to and from cancer-related medical appointments.

Requirements:

• Must be between the ages of 18 and 84.
• A valid driver’s license. Valid means the license is issued by the state, has not expired, and does not restrict the driver’s ability to drive during the scheduled time. Volunteers will be asked to also provide as part of their regular check updates.
• Access to a safe and reliable vehicle
• Proof of adequate automobile insurance. Volunteers will be asked to provide also as part of their regular check updates.
• Pass background check and motor vehicle records check. Comply with regular check updates (motor vehicle check is every 2 years, background checks are every 4 years)
• Regular desktop, laptop, or tablet computer access
• Successful completion of required trainings
• Schedule availability - rides are primarily needed sometime between Monday and Saturday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
• Able to follow through on commitments.
• Be familiar with the community, including roads and locations of hospitals.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Emotionally stable, friendly and compassionate. Appreciation and respect for diverse backgrounds, lifestyles and cultures of patients, caregivers, volunteers and staff.
