Now in its 18th year, the Anaheim Achieves after school program has grown from its 16 original school sites to 45 current sites, serving more than 5,000 students daily in elementary, junior high and high schools. The program has received state and national recognition for its commitment to community collaboration and dedication to educational excellence, and was chosen by the California Department of Education to become one of 14 Regional Learning Centers intended to be a model for developing programs throughout the state of California. For all of these reasons and more, the Anaheim Achieves after school program has made a marked impact on the children, families, and communities in and surrounding Anaheim, California.
Thanks to the Anaheim Achieves after school program, students are taking a greater interest in learning and making smarter life choices after school. They have a safe, positive and enriching place to explore their unique talents and interests, and discover their full potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.
Anaheim Achieves is located on your child’s school campus. The program serves students from Kindergarten - 12th grade and is offered at 46 schools throughout Anaheim (35 elementary, 6 junior high and 5 high schools) in partnership with the Anaheim Elementary, Savanna, Magnolia and Anaheim Union High School districts, City of Anaheim, California Department of Education and Orange County Department of Education. The program operates from school dismissal to 6:00pm.
Share skills and talents with kids and teens by providing skill building in one of four areas: Performing/Visual Art (dance, drama, choir, arts/crafts, music appreciation, sketching, etc.), Life Skill (budgeting, cooking, sewing, etiquette, chess, etc.), Nutrition (health, wellness, etc.), Physical Education/Recreation (cheerleading, organized sports, game leadership, etc.).Volunteers will work alongside program staff to aid in class instruction, outdoor recreational activities and much more. Programs are held at school locations and are a great way for individuals with a passion to work with children to get work experience through our programs. Volunteers will serve as role models and extra support for the students and staff working on academics and engagement in program activities and clubs during after school hours.
