Mission Statement

Liberty Hospice Mission Statement is to provide cost effective quality services that achieve optimal outcomes. At Liberty Hospice, we promote dignity and focus on quality of life. We help our patients and their families spend their time together in peace and comfort.

Description

Do you like HELPING people? Do you want to give JOY to patients? Can you GIVE a few hours a month of your time? Then...come VOLUNTEER with LIBERTY HOSPICE in Danville, VA. (Also volunteers are needed in Alton, Axton, Blairs, Brosville, Callands, Cascade, Chatham, Dry Fork, Martinsville, Ringgold, South Boston and Sutherlin.)

The training can be done on the computer, on a DVD player or in the office with the volunteer coordinator, so whichever way you learn the best can be an option. The volunteer coordinator goes with you on the first three visits with your patient until you feel comfortable to be on your own. You sit and listen to the patient, read to them, write letters or do a life review to leave a legacy gift for their family. You could stay with the patient and allow the caregiver a respite support break to run to the store, doctor or hair appointment. The volunteer at Liberty Hospice is actually considered an employee, even though you don't make money... we could never pay the volunteer because our volunteers are PRICELESS. There is some paperwork that the volunteer fills out, but it is very simple and easy to understand.
