Fosters provide a safe and healthy environment for animals that are not quite ready for our adoption program.
To get started, please fill out our online foster application here. Fostering animals is the number one way we can save more lives in Oklahoma City. Foster parents generally sign on to temporarily house animals for anywhere between 1 week to a few months. Certain individuals prefer longer duration fosters and some prefer shorter durations. The great thing about fostering is that you have the opportunity to help decide which animals would be the best fit for you to take on. Some people like small dogs, some like to work with animals with medical needs, some like puppies, some like bottle baby kittens, so whatever best fits your home and lifestyle, that is what you can take!
The purpose of Oklahoma City Animal Welfare is to provide animal protection, control, veterinary services and placement services to pet owners and non-owners so they can live in a safe community of responsible pet ownership, free of animal abuse and neglect.
Oklahoma City Animal Welfare is a municipal animal shelter that receives it’s funding from the City, donations from individuals, organizations, and grants. We are an open admission shelter, which means we accept all animals that come to our shelter as long as they are from within the Oklahoma City limits. We also contract with the City of Del City, the Town of Valley Brook and Tinker AFB to provide sheltering services to stray animals from within their city limits. We are also responsible for the enforcement of animal ordinances within Oklahoma City.
