VIDA (Volunteers in Defense of Animals)

Kitten season is here!

We're always on the search for people who are able to foster young kittens!! Kittens are more susceptible to getting sick when they're in our shelter environment, so local foster homes are a huge help for us! We also sometimes have kittens who need to grow up to be about 8-10 weeks old before they can go home, and these little guys need a little more attention than the older cats! Most kittens won't require bottle feeding and can already eat wet kitten food, so all they need is a safe space and love. We'll provide all of the necessary supplies! Blankets, carriers, enclosures if needed, bowls, food, formula, litter, litter boxes, toys, and anything else you can think of! We can also potentially provide transport for our foster kittens to and from your home.

You do NOT have to have any previous experience to foster! You DO need to have patience and do a little research. We're happy to help with anything that you might need or any questions you have! However, you DO need to be committed to learning and committed to the health of your foster kittens.

Fostering is an incredible experience. Although some may worry about getting attached, you're helping an animal get to a forever home and providing a safe, quiet, and clean space for them until they find an incredible home. Fostering is rewarding and very beneficial for many!

Fostering may also be eligible for volunteer hours if you're searching for a way to complete some for school or work. Contact us to learn more and discuss hours.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to protect and help dogs and cats from homelessness neglect, abuse, cruelty and abandonment. VIDA does not belong to any one person but instead to all of its volunteers. We adopt out about 50-60 cats and dogs per month - we rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, low income neighborhoods, and from the streets of Mexico. We also have spay and neuter operations and have saved thousands of animals already. www.vida4animals.org www.instagram.com/vidarescue www.facebook.com/vidarescue

Description

Volunteers in Defense of Animals is a non-profit organization working to end the suffering and mistreatment of dogs and cats in Southern California. We bring spay and neuter services to areas where families cannot afford them; we facilitate the rescue, foster care, and adoption of animals whenever possible, and we offer education and support to those involved in the care of animals.

We have found forever homes for hundreds of dogs and cats, with around 4-5 new adoptions taking place each week. Many of our dogs come from local high-kill shelters before they are euthanized and on the streets of both the US and Mexico. We also have spay/neuter operations in low-income neighborhoods in the US and in Mexico and have spayed/neutered thousands of pets.
