Seeking Robotics Lab assistant to Support Instructor

  • Experience in Robotics (FIRST Competitions or similar)
  • Experience using Arduino and Arduino IDE, programming in C
  • Experience using Scratch or similar graphical programming methods
  • Proficiency in Mac and PC Operating Systems.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
iFp Robotics @ CPL uses a human-centered approach to the world of robotics. Students (middle & high school) start with questions such as "How Might We Use Robotics to Extend the Capabilities of People with Disabilities?" A substantial amount of course time is spent meeting people with disabilities and participating in exercises to develop an understanding of and empathy for the challenges that they face. Current focus is on motor / physical disabilities. Lessons introduce advanced wheel chairs and exoskeleton systems that let paraplegic people elevate themselves to a standing height (either by lifting the chair or straightening/stabilizing their legs). To facilitate prototyping when standard robots kits do not provide suitable components students are introduced to 3D design and fabrication.
