Our on-site hospital food pantry is one way we help ease family’s day-to-day worries as they are with their child in the hospital for extended-stay treatments. The Pinky Swear Pantry allows families to grab lunch or a few snacks without worrying about the financial cost and it increases the time they can spend with their child.

You can find two hospitals in the United States with a Pinky Swear Pantry! One location is in Minnesota at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital and the other one is found in Charlotte, North Carolina at Levine’s Children’s Hospital.

You can support the Pinky Swear Pantry by hosting a food drive to stock the hospital food pantries. Please contact us by email us at Nicole.karg@pinkyswear.org to volunteer as an individual or group, or schedule a pantry drop-off at our location!

Not sure what types of food items we are looking for?

We accept microwavable items such as single servings of popcorn, macaroni and cheese, soup, ramen, and oatmeal. Dry goods that our families enjoy are granola bars, fruit snacks, chips, cookies and beef jerky. Single servings of condiments or peanut butter are also greatly valued along with beverages such as water and sports drinks.

If you’re interested in hosting a food drive to help stock our Pinky Swear Pantries, please email nicole.karg@pinkyswear.org and we will send you a customizable flyer!

Mission Statement

Our mission at Pinky Swear is to help kids with cancer and their families with financial and emotional support with a vision of saying 'Yes!' to every family.

Description

Mitch was nine years old when he was diagnosed with bone cancer. When he was in the hospital in December, he overheard the family next to him having a discussion that there would not be enough money for Christmas that year. Mitch looked at his dad and said, "This isn’t fair. How much money do I have in the bank?"

Steve helped Mitch into his wheelchair and took him to the bank. Mitch withdrew all the money he had in his savings account and put it in envelopes for the kids on the pediatric oncology floor at the hospital. He signed each envelope, "Love Mitch. XOXOXO"

Before nine-year-old Mitch Chepokas passed away, he made a pinky swear with his dad to continue to help children with cancer and their families.

Since his death in 2003, Pinky Swear Foundation has provided more than $16 million in financial assistance and quality of life support. We’ve helped thousands of families whose children are bravely battling cancer.
