Court watchers collect real-time qualitative and quantitative data from legal proceedings in Shelby County criminal courtrooms; we attempt to capture the narratives not reflected in official accounts. We accomplish this by engaging volunteers from communities of faith, neighborhood groups, and social/civic groups; students; retirees; and anyone interested in learning more about the criminal justice system.
We believe the Court Watch experience will give you a new perspective and hopefully inspire you to ask more questions about our criminal legal system. Your participation will support our reform efforts, as well. Based on your Court Watch findings, we will publish a monthly blog, offer specific strategies to state and local policy makers, and provide data that can transform courtroom policies, practices, and culture.

About JUST CITY INC
Location:
P.O. Box 41852, Memphis, TN 38174, US
Mission Statement
To advance policies, programs, and solutions in Shelby County and the State of Tennessee that broaden access to justice, strengthen the right to counsel, and mitigate the damage caused to families and neighborhoods as a result of contact with the criminal justice system.
Description
The ultimate mission of Just City is to create a smaller, fairer, and more humane criminal justice system - one that does not reserve justice for the wealthy. To do this, we pursue legislation at the state level that lowers or altogether removes barriers to freedom that are rooted in economic prejudice.
