The Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) is a unique program shown to decrease the heightened risks of confusion and loss of independence experienced by older adults while in the hospital.
Volunteers are the core of the program and trained to provide bedside interventions in orienting, ambulating and range of motion, hydrating and activities. We seek those who have an interest in caring for older adult patients and are able to commit to at least 1 year of regular service. Help re-orient patients to their settings with social visits and conversation, receive specialized training to provide patients with cognitive stimulation, guide range-of motion exercises and encourage appropriate ambulation.
Our next training is scheduled for Saturday, November 17, 2018. The training consists of 8 hours of classroom training, followed by 16 hours of precepted training at the bedside. We hold interviews for the orientation beginning 2 months ahead all the way up to the day before the training.
Must have good English speaking skills. Second language is a plus!
If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact us! We are currently holding interviews for our November 2018 orientation.
