Whittier Elementary School provides the Read graduate Succeed program for its struggling student who need extra help in reading fluency and comprehension. Volunteers come in to the school and tutor those students. It runs Monday through Thursday 9 am to 2:30 pm, and run for the whole school year. we are in need of tutors between the hours of 11 am and 2:30 pm. we do have a few earlier time spots. Tutoring consists of sight words, word banks, Dyad reading and comprehension and reading fluency passages. the 4th thru 6th grade also work on writing and vocabulary words. we have fun getting to know are students and reading new and exciting books!

Whittier Elementary School in West valley City, Utah provides a program called Read Graduate Succeed(Star Reading) through Americorps. Which Provides Volunteer tutors to come into the school and work with its students who are struggling with reading fluency and comprehension.
Description
The Read graduate succeed program runs Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 2:30 pm. it only take 30 mins to a hour a week of volunteer time. it is a on going program that last the whole school year. Anyone can volunteer. there will be a basic background check at no cost to the volunteer. Our Goal is to recruit at least 30 volunteer so we can help the many students who are in need at our school. It is rewarding for both the volunteer and the student who eagerly look forward to coming to reading. We our on our sixth year of offering this program and have had many Achievements in getting our students on or above reading level for there grade
