EVENT STAFF: Battleship 5K/Half Marathon Food Tent

Celebrate the 20th Annual "Battleship Race" and help raise funds for the Cape Fear Literacy Council! We are looking for a team of volunteers to lend a hand on Sunday, November 4 from 7am to noon.

Volunteers will:

  • Arrive downtown to take River Taxis or Trolly Busses to the food tent at Battleship Park by 7am
  • Help to prepare and serve bagels, fruit and pizza to race finishers
  • Help to keep the Food Tent prep area tidy
  • Finish by Noon at the latest, and shuttle back downtown to your vehicle

This is an awesome opportunity for families, youth groups, and scout troops to "Do Good Together!" Invite your friends. Volunteers will receive a commemorative 20th Year Battleship 5K/Half-Marathon T-shirt.

We match trained tutors and class instructors with adult learners who want to improve their skills in reading comprehension, math, and computer literacy. Our volunteers provide free, confidential and individualized training to help students meet their goals.

We have various administrative and event-based projects available year-round, perfect for individuals or groups.
