New York Edge delivers afterschool programs that encourage children to play more, have fun and adopt healthy eating habits. Elect to be Fit is an annual event held on Election Day designed to build and support our students’ sports and wellness interests through friendly interscholastic competitions and sports instruction. The event will feature games, healthy snacks from our Food Explorers Program and much more!

Volunteers will assist with set-up/breakdown, help out with each sports station and distribute lunch to students. Each year upwards of 200 students participate in this event and volunteers are critical to the day's success. Volunteers will be asked to dress is appropriate comfortable clothing, and wear closed-toed shoes. Lunch will be provided.

The mission of New York Edge is to help bridge the opportunity gap among underserved students by providing programs designed to improve academic performance, health and wellness, self-confidence, character and attitudes for success in life.

Description

Operating between three and five days each week for 36 weeks during the school year in most programs, we offer combined academic enrichment curricula including: literacy, STEM, leadership, High School Today College Tomorrow (HSTCT) and Middle School Today High School Tomorrow (MSTHST) with sports and wellness, music, visual and performing arts opportunities and trips to educational and cultural institutions.
