The LivingWorks After-School Program seeks tutors to work with elementary age students (Grades 2-8) on math and reading skills and successful completion of homework assignments. Tutors will work with students online 2-3 times per week and will learn techniques to help students work towards individualized goals.

- Assist in assessment of students’ math and reading levels
- Keep log of student activities and progress
- Work with supervisors to create tutoring resources and strategies appropriate to the needs of each student
- Serve as a positive role-model to students
- Attend periodic trainings and staff meetings
- Assist with other group activities as needed

Schedule: Monday through Thursday from 4:15 - 5:30 pm for tutoring and a few volunteers from 5:15 - 6:30 pm for a second shift of tutoring, as needed.

Mission Statement

We envision a thriving community, filled with lifelong learners, where every voice is valued. Our mission is to develop the whole person, cultivating within each of our students a desire to learn, and equipping them through mentoring, one-on-one teaching, and play.

Description

LivingWorks seeks to foster development of the whole child--mind, body and spirit--by providing academic support and extra-curricular enrichment to children and youth through one-on-one tutoring and mentoring, empowering them to become confident life-long learners and engaged community members with the resources to pursue their dreams. LivingWorks is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of the youth in the diverse Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago and has a long, proven track record of doing so. It pioneered the first after-school program to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of the students at Joyce Kilmer Elementary School in 1996 and has been carrying the torch ever since then.
