A volunteer physician educating a participant at a KEEP Heal

KEEP Healthy is the National Kidney Foundations community-based initiative to educate about the kidneys, risk factors for kidney disease, and steps to take to keep kidneys healthy and reduce risk. The health screening consists of eight stations including: a brief health survey, blood pressure check, body mass index (BMI) measurement, educational information, an opportunity to speak with a clinician, and an ACR urine test for albumin ( a type of protein). Program participants receive a copy of their results and are encouraged to discuss them with a healthcare practitioner. Participants are also directed to seek more information from the NKF, and are offered a host of resources and programs to help motivate participants to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

This is a great opportunity for any volunteer! The National Kidney Foundation is looking for General (does not require any kind of specific training) and Technical (requires specific training i.e. RN, MD, PA) volunteers. This is great for college and graduate students who are looking for future careers in the nutrition, medical or pharmaceutical field.
