ORGANIZATION: The Future Project

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

The Future Project is rolling out Future Camp , a three-day bootcamp to jumpstart the students in your community-launching their journey to discover their purpose, unleash their agency, and take real steps toward the future they desire. We are bringing Future Camp to 10 cities and towns throughout the U.S this year.... and we’re coming to East Orange this October! Future Camp would not be possible (or nearly as great!) without collaboration and support from folks like you.Volunteers must be 18 years or older. If you're under 18 but are interested in attending Future Camp, please visit There are a few different ways to volunteer at Future Camp: 1. Event Production
Duties may include set up, greeting and signing-in attendees, space and food maintenance, minor coaching and project building support, clean up, bringing good energy, and more! Production volunteers can stay all day, or choose to attend morning or afternoon shifts.

2. Table Facilitators
Help lead a group of ~10 students through three days of programmed experiences. While our team of Lead Facilitators will guide the programming, you will help your "home base" team of students follow along, supplementing light coaching and support as needed. You will receive a short training and a complete facilitator's guide prior to the event, but you should have experience working with young people!
PLEASE NOTE: Table Facilitators must be able to commit to all three days of the event, 8AM-6PM.

3. Specialists
Calling the specially skilled and certified! We're looking for the following specialists: one DJ, one-two LCSW's, security staff, and an A/V specialist. Specialists are needed for full days (8AM-6pm), but can choose to volunteer one, two, or all three days of the event. As you can see above, depending on the type of volunteer work you'll do, you may choose to volunteer anywhere from one half-day shift to all three days.

Mission Statement

The Future Project is a new national movement to dramatically transform education by building a world in which every student is inspired. Our mission is to give all students the opportunity to have a partner and project in inspiration for every year of high school.

Description

The Future Project is the new national movement to inspire America--starting in our nation's public schools. We will launch in October 2011 in high schools in New York, New Haven, and Washington, D.C. We unite students in urban public high schools with volunteers from their community--young professionals and students at nearby colleges and graduate schools--in partnerships and teams and challenge each pair to spend one year building a passion-inspired project that makes a powerful difference in their school or community. During weekly, 90-minute meetings, students also imagine and pursue inspired futures, whether admission to college or leaps forward in leadership or grades. Above all, both partners discover what moves them--and learn to channel it for good.
