The purpose of this volunteer position is to provide leadership to Red Cross Disaster Cycle Services volunteers in performing sheltering activities during preparedness, response, and recovery within a territory. Sheltering provides congregate care including safe sleeping accommodations for people displaced due to disaster.
This position is responsible for the overall execution of Sheltering within the chapter/territory including:
* Oversee overall sheltering program, ensuring current sheltering guidance is observed
* Ensure effective planning for sheltering operations
* Ensure adequate supplies for sheltering operations
* Ensure adequate partnerships are pre-identified to address sheltering needs identified in chapter/territory
plans; coordinating sheltering operational plans and managing expectations around sheltering capability,
capacity and reporting
* Build sheltering capacity and capability through partnerships, recruitment, training and mentoring
* Serve as subject matter expert in sheltering program guidance and tools.
