This AmeriCorps service opportunity is a 365 day VOLUNTEER position with a monthly living allowance averaging $1,026 per month before taxes. This is not a permanent position, but will provide someone wanting to grow their network and gain excellent experience within a highly respecting and influential nonprofit in assisting women business owners throughout the entire state, with a focus on rural communities.

The Women’s Business Center of Utah is laying groundwork for a strong outreach program to expand the accessibility of effective entrepreneurial education and support for women business owners throughout Utah. As women improve their businesses, they are able to raise their families out of poverty. The Outreach Coordinator for Rural Women Business Owners AmeriCorps VISTA will strengthen partnerships with rural communities to benefit women business owners by increasing collaborative programs and events. The VISTA will finalize the WBCUtah’s rural outreach program model to be implemented state-wide by delivering standard operating procedures, best practices and job description for a WBCUtah outreach coordinator position.

Member Duties/Job Description: Build relationships with Utah rural economic development/business resource organizations and coordinate signed Memorandums of Understanding. Create a database of community and area leaders and contacts. Identify and test opportunities for collaboration.

Program Benefits:
Living Allowance ($12,000 per year, pre-taxes), At the end of year of service, the VISTA can choose an Education Award ($6,095) or End of Service Cash Stipend ($1,800), Health Coverage*, Relocation Allowance, Monthly cell phone stipend, Travel reimbursement, Childcare assistance if eligible

Requirements:

College graduate

General office and computer skills, knowledge of Google Suite

Dedicated to national and community service

Demonstrate a love for relationship building and public speaking

Take initiative in meeting goals and seeking professional growth

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and detail-oriented skills.

WBCUtah was established November 1997 as a partnership between the Salt Lake Chamber and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBA provides a federal funding for WBCUtah to assist Utah women start and grow successful small businesses through training, resources, and support through in-person, online and virtual services through offices in Salt Lake City and Cedar City.
