Purpose
The American Diabetes Association's Rochester Associate Leadership Board serves as an engagement and fundraising body of leaders and supporters of the American Diabetes Association, its mission, events, and programs. The ADA will utilize the Associate Board as a gateway to cultivate talented volunteers, connect with the local corporate audience, and raise awareness about diabetes among a newer generation.

Goals
In the first year of its founding, the ADA Associate Leadership Board aims to:
* Recruit a Chairperson and any supporting leadership roles
* Recruit 7 - 12 general members
* Host quarterly board meetings, and 1 fundraising event.
* Increase overall awareness of the mission of the American Diabetes Association among a younger demographic.

Expectations
Members will work together to leverage their time, talent and resources to advance the mission of American Diabetes Association. In doing so, all members, at all levels, will be held to the expectations outlined below. It is the hope of Board leadership to ensure member participation and/or encourage increased engagement.

Financial Commitment
Members are responsible to give-or-get monetary or in-kind resources equivalent to, or greater than $1,000 each year. This may include, but is not limited to, captaining a fundraising team, hosting third-party fundraising events, personal fundraising, or securing a corporate gift/sponsorship. Coaching and resources will be provided by ADA staff.

Time Commitment
Board Members are required to attend at least three of the four annual board meetings. Conference call options will be provided as well. Additional time commitments may be necessary for any event planning or participation, team or new member recruitment, or fundraising events. Anticipated: 1-6 hours per month.

Board Framework

* Meetings will be scheduled by Associate Board leadership in coordination with American Diabetes Association staff. These meetings will vary between early morning and evening times and hosted at a central location.
* Each member will serve a term of 2 years, with up to two renewal terms. Annually, members will review their service with Board leadership and/or ADA staff.

Participation

American Diabetes Association Events
- Members should strive to attend one of the Association's annual fundraisers, the Tour de Cure or the Rochester Marathon, each year.

Awareness & Advocacy
- Members will serve as thoughtful advocates for the American Diabetes Association in the community, staying up to date on its mission, programs and events, and notable news.
- Members should introduce the work of the American Diabetes Association to internal networks through word of mouth, events, social media and/or personal introductions, to help increase awareness.
