Come join STEM in the Park as a Speed Mentor! STEM professionals, postdocs, and university students can participate in this opportunity during the "Meet" session of our three STEM Fests this year.

What is a Speed Mentor?

  • In this context, a Speed Mentor is someone who will talk one-on-one with students and "put a face" to STEM careers. We hope students can learn about the individuals who work in these roles, and maybe start to imagine themselves in your position. We would also like them to learn about the different pathways into STEM careers, so you can share how you got to where you are!
  • Who will I be talking to?
You will talk to approximately ten students over the course of 70 minutes. Each conversation will last roughly five minutes. These students will be in grades 7-12.
  • When can I volunteer as a speed mentor?
We are hosting three fests in 2018-19 that will incorporate speed mentoring. They are all at The Frontier in RTP. The dates are: February 1 st (EMFest: engineering and math), and April 5th (SciFest).
  • How do I sign up?
