Mission Statement

Let it Be Us is a nonprofit dedicated to the adoption and education of children within the Illinois foster care system. Funds raised support programs and projects that maximize the prospects of successful adoptions for these children, further the education of the older children that will most likely not be adopted, and make this world a nicer place for them.

Description

Let It Be Us is the only agency in IL that educates people on the foster care system, so they can help recruit families to foster and adopt.

Targeted Recruitment Program
- Is child-specific strategy that helps recruit foster, adoptive, and kinship families.

Finding Forever and Foster Families - We recruit foster/adoptive parents for Illinois waiting children by hosting town hall style events allowing individual Adoption Recruiters and Case Workers time to introduce their programs which offer adoption and foster care opportunities.

Heart Gallery of Illinois - We manage the only Heart Gallery in IL that summarizes needs and descriptions for kids waiting to be adopted or placed in foster care.

Mentorship Program - We match trained mentors with children living in group homes. They meet weekly to work on academics, and behavioral, decision-making, and communication skills.

Wednesday’s Children of Illinois (a Let It Be Us Publication) - Written by our Executive Director to share information and educate about the foster care system.

To affect and change policy our Executive director attends Statewide Foster Care Advisory Council and State Wide Foster Care Advisory Council Policy and Legislative Committee
