Assist with Activities at Memory Care in Carnation
Have Fun, Eat Lunch, Laugh & Listen

Join in fun activities and help guide seniors with Alzheimer's or other mild-to-moderate cognitive issues to have a meaningful day in a casual environment. We have openings for friendly volunteers once a week to help our members stay socially engaged and active. We play music and cards, try out art projects, and generally laugh, learn and tell stories at this non-residential daytime memory program for older adults.

This group will draw you in with their humor, creativity, grace and surprising wisdom. Just bring your smile and willingness to engage. Choose Wednesdays or Fridays in Bellevue, from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.

We meet in a large room in a welcoming church with 5-10 seniors. You'll be with two knowledgeable staff daily and sometimes another volunteer. It's most helpful if you can arrive at 9:30 a.m. to help set up chairs, etc, assist with the activities of the day, serve and share lunch, and help tidy up at the end of the day. This 6-hour shift is preferred, but shorter shifts are also very helpful.

Come help us create a welcoming environment of fun, respect and joy.

(Also seeking volunteers for Old Friends Club in Carnation, Kirkland, and soon to Sammamish and North Seattle)

About Old Friends Club

Location:

PO Box 2472, Kirkland, WA 98083, US

Mission Statement

Old Friends Club cultivates joy in the lives of adults with cognitive impairment and nourishes the well-being of family caregivers.

Description

Old Friends Club invites people with dementia or other cognitive impairments to participate in guided conversation, games, art, music, exercise and other activities. We meet in a small group that empowers each member to build friendships and care for one another. The activity and interaction help people remain living in their own home longer and address social and cognitive needs that other care options often don’t. Club members move from isolation to engagement. Their family caregivers gain respite and ongoing support, education and access to caregiving resources.
