ORGANIZATION: Volunteer Action for Aging

  • 1 person is interested

Are you looking for an easy way to give back to your local South Bay seniors in need of support? Then you stumbled upon a great opportunity from Volunteer Action for Aging (VAA)! Join us as a Friendly Visitor Volunteer where you will meet an older adult who you can share stories, wisdom, experiences, and friendship with! A flexible schedule serving just one hour each week. You can and will change the life of someone by bringing your thoughtful company and support.

We are looking for several volunteers to serve in the South Bay area.

One of the seniors who has requested a volunteer has some special requests. She is a 66 year old woman with 3 small dogs. She enjoys reading, crafts such as sewing and cross stitching, country music, and movie genres ranging from romance to crime dramas. She’s hoping to meet someone with the same interests and who is open to take short walks, meet for a coffee or lunch or play card games with. This opportunity is best for someone who is available during the daytime on weekdays.

Other seniors in the South Bay are waiting as well. Help us clear out our waiting list. No one should wait to have some company and companionship.

VAA is a community service of SCAN Health Plan. Through friendly visits at a senior’s home volunteers make a difference for isolated and lonely seniors. Best of all, it’s free to seniors. If you live or work in the South Bay and you’d like to learn more details, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Please give us a call at 562-637-7175 or send an email to thershberg@scanhealthplan.com for more information, or sign up online at scan.samaritan.com!
