Seattle Humane is looking for American Sign Language Interpreters to help us expand our services and programs to deaf individuals in our community. We have two separate volunteer jobs that we currently need assistance with:

DOG TRAINING CLASSES
We have a potential student interested in attending our dog training classes who would need an interpreter for the class. The student’s schedule is flexible and we are hoping to get her into a course sometime between October - December 2018. The course includes a 2-hour seminar then 6 class sessions (1-hour each, once per week). Interpreters can commit to the whole course or individual dates.

This position would take place at our shelter in Bellevue.

PETS FOR LIFE PARTICIPANT INTERPRETER
Seattle Humane is participating in the Humane Society of the United States' Pets for Life Program. By comprehensively addressing the lack of accessible, affordable pet care in under-served communities, Pets for Life keeps pets in the homes they already have, improving their quality of life and elevating the human-animal bond.

We have an immediate need for an interpreter to help us conduct a survey with a participant of this program, and there may be a need for more help in the future (est. May-June 2019). The volunteer would need to be available sometime Monday-Friday between 9:00am-4:00pm.

The volunteer would accompany our Research Assistant to the participant's home in South Park, Seattle.
