The Caring Cupboard
This is a pantry on wheels, a monthly grocery delivery fueled solely on volunteer effort. The program feeds homebound seniors and disabled individuals having trouble accessing area pantries or service agencies and whose fixed incomes often can’t finance fundamental basic needs. Volunteers telephone each client to create a shopping list from the pantry’s inventory. The order is then packed and delivered one Thursday night each month. The program provides a caring component with volunteers excited for an opportunity to feed a generation that once fed them.
We do two deliveries a month, one on the first Thursday of the month and one on the third Thursday. Volunteers can arrive at our office on 1 Perimeter Road, Unit #900 to deliver as early as 3:30 pm or as late as 5:30 pm. When you deliver for the first time, you're shown a brief orientation video (about 15 minutes long) that provides an overview of The CareGivers mission and programs and that explains the delivery process. After the orientation video is over, volunteers will be given their groceries and directions to the homes of the four or five seniors that they'll be delivering to. We estimate that the deliveries will take between an hour and two hours if you deliver to Manchester and perhaps a little longer if you deliver to Nashua.
Our clients rely on our work each drop and the need is as great as ever.
The CareGivers has an urgent need for volunteers to fight against hunger and provide the elderly and disabled individuals with groceries. Please consider donating some of your time to make a difference to those in need!
Volunteer groups are welcomed!
