JAFP

Through hands-on classroom activities and site-based or virtual experiences, JA Finance Park students build
a foundation for making intelligent, lifelong personal-finance decisions. The program includes hands-on
in-school activities that culminate in a visit to a JA Finance Park facility or mobile unit, or online through
JA Finance Park virtual.

Following participation in the program, students will be able to:
* Identify personal interests, skills, work preferences, and values.
* Identify career interests.
* Evaluate the risks and benefits of saving and investing.
* Evaluate risk and recognize insurance as a way to minimize it.
* Define taxes; explain their purpose; and understand how they affect everyone.
* Explain the advantages and disadvantages of using credit and debit cards.
* Explain who uses a budget and why.
* Identify the components of a successful budget.
* Create a successful budget using hypothetical life situations.

Please contact Jordyn Singer at jsinger@jadallas.org if you are interested in volunteering!

About Junior Achievement of Dallas

Location:

Mission Statement

To inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. JA programs offer a wide variety of people the opportunity to apply their expertise to the educational needs of our communities' students from kindergarten through the 12th grade in an effective and fun way.

Description

Volunteers are the core of Junior Achievement's impact in the classroom. Trained volunteers visit classrooms for about 45 minutes once a week for 5 to 8 sessions, depending on the grade level. The volunteer uses his or her own experience in conjunction with the JA curriculum to teach about business principles, decision-making and critical thinking skills. Junior Achievement provides all materials, training, and volunteer support. Visit www.jadallas.org to sign up today!

Our approach is simple yet highly effective. JA facilitates a powerful partnership between business and education: JA develops the innovative K-12 programs; schools provide the access; the business community provides the financial support and volunteers to deliver the hands-on curriculum to students.
