Help the City of Detroit and Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance build a playground at Stein Park in partnership with the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation, The Skillman Foundation, General Motors, Quicken Loans and KaBOOM! Project Information

Organization: Sustainable Community Farms
Who: A total of approximately 300 volunteers from the local community. Work is available for volunteers of all levels of skill and ability. **Please note - All youth under the legal working age for this state will be welcome to participate in youth activities but will not be able to participate in building in the playground construction areas.**
When:Saturday, October 20th, 2018 from 08:00 AM - 03:00 PM
Where: Stein Park, 18501 W. Chicago, Detroit, MI 48224
What's Provided: Breakfast, lunch and water will be provided. Gloves and other safety materials will be provided for the projects that require them.
What to Wear: The playground build will happen rain or shine. Please come dressed for the weather. Closed-toe shoes are required; sneakers or work boots that you don't mind getting dirty are advisable. Please leave valuables at home as secure storage is not available on site.
Build Week Schedule
Delivery Day: Tuesday, October 16th, 2018
15 volunteers are needed to unload and store equipment
- 8:00 AM - Volunteers arrive and register
- Noon - All deliveries received
50 volunteers are needed to mix concrete, sort hardware, cut wood, and prepare art projects
- 8:00 AM - Volunteers arrive and register
- 5:00 PM - All prep work completed (approximate time)
15 volunteers are needed to cut wood, organize build kits, and label tools
- 8:00 AM - Volunteers arrive and register
- 5:00 PM - All prep work completed (approximate time)
15 volunteers are needed for final site prep and staging
- 8:00 AM - Volunteers arrive and register
- 5:00 PM - All prep work completed (approximate time)
300 volunteers are needed to build the playground, build wood projects, move mulch and mix concrete
- 6:30 AM - Team Leaders arrive
- 8:00 AM - Volunteers arrive and register
- 8:30 AM - Kick-off ceremony
- 2:30 PM - Ribbon-cutting ceremony
