Calling all plant-fans!

Salt Tree Art will be producing an evening on the LIC waterfront that celebrates the native wilds of NYC. The night will include: community art projects, environmental art showcases, live performances, large light-up puppets, and much more!

We need your help to make this happen. We are seeking volunteers to help manage tables, oversee art spaces, help direct crowds, wrangle talent, make crafts, set-up and breakdown, take photos, and much more!

The event will be open to the public from 6pm - 9pm but we would need volunteers before and after to help set-up and break-down.

This will be a fun and festive night! Participants are encouraged to bring a house plant, dress as a plant, or make and wear a plant mask!

And please let us know if you are looking to volunteer as a photographer or artist.

You can learn more about the event by visiting: http://salttree.art/cityofgreen/

About Salt Tree Charitable Trust

Location:

45-39 42nd st., apt. 3B, Sunnyside, NY 11104, US

Mission Statement

The Salt Tree Project aspires to create a rich community space in an unprecedented visionary environment. On the canvas of an edible landscape, a multi-acre art installation becomes the grounds for collaborative explorations of ecology and the arts. By uniting land, art, and community, the Salt Tree Project becomes a center for innovation and creativity.

Description

Ecology and the arts will be intertwined in the space’s creation and operation. Artists, horticulturalists, and practitioners in allied fields will be working collectively to build and maintain an edible landscape as a multi-acre art installation that supports community engagement.

The edible landscape will produce an abundance of foods and natural resources for community use. The project will use pioneering techniques in the field of regenerative agriculture, which moves beyond sustainability to enhance soil and water health, improve biodiversity, and offset global climate change by storing atmospheric carbon.

The Salt Tree Project will build a community of engagement that:

  • fosters innovative research on food systems and environmental management;
  • supports broad participation in the project as an inspired place to create and discover art;
  • promotes education and open dialogue through ongoing workshop and conference programming;
  • hosts public festivals, performances, and other events that showcase the project’s work.
