Caregiver Support Group Leaders (volunteers and professionals)
Support group leaders have a heart to serve. They may be a current or retired professional health care worker, former caregiver, or anyone else who wants to help those who are on the front line serving others as a caregiver.
Groups will consist of six to twelve people and be quite manageable. Groups serve as a place for people to share ideas, frustrations, and dreams. You will be trained for your role and you will be hard pressed to find a more rewarding role.
Most of our support groups meet once a month. And as a new leader, you can set the time for your support group to meet.Group meetings run 60 to 90 minutes, in public places, churches, and other locations with privacy.
Anyone interested in facilitating an Alzheimer's Association support group will
1. Attend one of our volunteer orientations,
2. Be interviewed for the position,
3. Go through a background check, and then
4. Take part in our support group training - which is 4-6 hours.
Once these steps are complete you will be prepared and confident for your new role.
