Dog Play Wednesday Volunteers

Dog Play Wednesday Volunteers assist Gathering Place staff during our weekly program Dog Play Wednesdays. Dog Play Wednesdays provide dog owners the opportunity to enjoy Gathering Place with their furry friends. Gathering Place will feature special activities the 4th Wednesday of every month.

"Dog Play Wednesday presented by AARP" begins Wednesday, March 27th! We will allow dogs on all pathways, all day on Wednesdays until the fall. The fourth Wednesday of the month will feature a fun programmed activity for the dogs including Movie Nights, DOGA, Paint your Pup and more. Please keep in mind:

  • Owners must clean up after their dogs.
  • Dogs must remain on leash.
  • Dogs are not allowed in the Williams Lodge, ONEOK Boathouse, or in any play areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Assist with Dog Area set up and tear down
  • Engage park guests and their dogs to have a good time in the dog area during Dog Play Wednesdays
  • Be able to enforce the rules of the Dog Play Area:
    • Dogs must stay on leash at all time
    • Politely ask aggressive dog/owners to leave area if they are not following rules
    • All dog must be supervised by the owner
    • Only dogs are allowed inside the area no other animals
  • Deals courteously and effectively with the public at all times
  • Responds promptly to guests needs
  • Adheres to all safety regulations and policies and procedures and helps maintain a safe and productive environment for guests, volunteers and staff
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions including damaged property in a timely manner
  • Responds to emergencies and alarm calls as needed

Skills and Experience:

  • Great with dogs
  • Comfortable with animals
  • Comfortable cleaning up animal mess
  • Requires the ability to interact with guests, officials, and staff on a regular basis
  • Outstanding customer service
  • Basic level written and verbal communication in the English Language
  • Bilingual experience is a plus, but not required

Shift Days and Times

  • 4th Wednesday of the month from 5:30-7:30 pm
