Do you have a background or professional knowledge in any STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) field? Are you excited to help future leaders of tomorrow? If so, Technology Access Foundation (TAF), a non-profit centered around providing underrepresented students with equitable STEM education, needs you!
We are looking for mentors that are willing to guide our 4 th and 5 th grade students at Boze Elementary in Tacoma through the process of building and coding robots for the First Lego League. We’re also looking for mentors that can help students with polishing their presentation skills so that they can successfully present what they’ve been working on at the project’s conclusion. The First Lego League Club will be meeting on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45pm-5:45pm from October 26 th to December 9 th .

Who We Are:
Since 1996, Technology Access Foundation (TAF) has worked to bring STEM skills to underrepresented students of color. We equip students of color for success in college and life through the power of an interdisciplinary STEM education and supportive relationships. Today, TAF’s programs impact over 14,000 public school students across Washington State. Additionally, TAF offers a Martinez Fellowship in which we provide and support multiple pathways to a teaching degree for teachers of color in order to improve teacher diversity and retention in Washington State.

Description
TAF is a nonprofit leader redefining Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education in public schools. We focus on supporting public school districts to use STEM as a tool for realizing social change and educational equality in low income communities and underrepresented communities. Our approach leverages in-school and out-of-school learning to shift the role of education in students’ lives, cultivating leadership in all students toward equity in their community.
