WELCOME! Join us on another adventure with Camping Unlimited's Year-Round Weekend Programs for children and adults with disabilities. Volunteers are needed for our EXTRA SPECTACULAR Overnight Holiday Weekend (either a 2 Day Overnight or partial 3-day weekend trip, 12/14 - 12/16. This exciting weekend trip will be held at Camp Krem in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Bus transportation, lodging and meals provided to all Volunteers.
Our Staff and Volunteers will host a warm and welcoming Holiday Weekend filled with many fun holiday social activities for our "Campers" who will enjoy trimming the tree, creating with arts/crafts, hiking, if weather permits, playing games, cooking and prepare a wonderful Holiday Dinner together for our Saturday night! We just might have a visit from the little jolly man! Ho Ho Ho!
This is just ONE of our many activities throughout the year!
Participants with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and other challenges enjoy weekend day trips and overnight adventures with the help of our wonderful Volunteers. We explore beautiful state parks, attend sporting events, theatrical productions, visit museums, community fairs, festivals and more. A favorite adventure is heading to the Santa Cruz Mountains to stay at our beautiful Camp Krem. We explore the redwoods hiking through nature trails, create with arts n'crafts, dance, perform with karaoke, talent shows and have magical campfires.
Volunteers assist on a variety of weekend options based on their availability. We are currently seeking Volunteers for our extremely popular weekend overnights. The typical schedules available to volunteer are: 1-Day Trips, Saturday, 9 - 5 or Saturday/Sunday weekend overnights, (includes a 1-night stay) 9 - 5, Or extended weekends from Friday at 3pm (2-night stay), to Sunday at 5pm. Travel Camps - TBA.
Responsibilities: Volunteers "Counselors" should be good role-models, mentors, offering friendship and guidance while interacting on all activities. They assist with supervision, mealtime prep, cleanup and support Campers who need assistance with personal care. Being a Volunteer Counselor can be both physically and emotionally challenging and at times, can include long hours. Volunteers become a part of our team and are provided with ongoing support and training by our experienced Program Directors and staff. This is great experience for those interested in careers in education, medicine, therapies, recreation and more.
Volunteers and Campers travel to all destinations via our Camping Unlimited bus. Pick up points are in Oakland and San Jose (Campbell), California.

Description
Camping Unlimited (founded in 1957) provides children and adults with developmental disabilities opportunities for recreational & educational programs throughout the entire year. Participants of all ages and disabilities (including Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Prader-Willi Syndrome, visual and hearing impairments and other physical /emotional challenges) enjoy a wide variety of respite weekends, overnight adventures, day trips, residential summer camp sessions and extended travel camps. The community-based events extend throughout Northern California's San Francisco Bay area and also includes Santa Cruz County and beyond.
