Come one come all! We are looking for volunteers experienced in working with elementary school-aged students or interested in facilitating/creating hands on outdoor education experiences. Come share your passion for the natural world with the next generation! Field trip topics range from geology, wildlife, aquatic science, history, leave no trace, and more!
Our Interpretive Ranger is seeking volunteers to help write TEKS-based interpretive programs, lead activities, or give general assistance.
Training is provided and required. Spring Field Trips training will take place Saturday February 2nd 2019 at the park. For more information and to register for this opportunity, sign up today!
Field trips will begin in March and continue throughout May. Field trip days are usually Tues-Thurs, 8:30am - 12:30pm. Field trips are generally for elementary school aged children, but can sometimes branch up into more advanced grade levels.
In addition to applying here, please send us an email so we can get to know you better. Please include your educational/professional background, what ways you would like to help, and your availability. If you have experience writing curriculum, please let us know! If you don’t have any formal experience teaching or working with children, that’s ok - we ask that you bring your passion, positive attitude, patience, and punctuality.
Passing a criminal background check is required (at no cost to you) in order to qualify for this opportunity.

The mission of the Friends of McKinney Falls State Park is to serve as responsible stewards of the cultural and natural resources, support educational programs, and foster an inclusive environment for present and future generations. We will do this by giving our time, our talent, and our financial support to McKinney Falls State Park.
Description
The friends group is a community of like-minded individuals who work together with Texas Parks and Wildlife for the shared vision of protecting and conserving this natural space for future generations. We want visitors to enjoy the unique experience McKinney Falls has to offer and inspire a lifelong appreciation and respect for nature and the legacy of Texas history.
Our goal is to build a network of support for Austin’s only State Park through volunteer work, fundraising, and giving back to the community. Each of our members brings a different set of skills and experiences to the table. There are many opportunities to help. So join us today!
