Description
Since 1975, the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts (SCPA) has been nationally recognized for its quality presentations and model educational programs. On an annual basis, the SCPA presents more than 400 performing arts events in theater, dance, classical music, world music, jazz, family presentations and festivals.
The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts' education and outreach programs touch the lives of children of all ages, from every part of the metro Phoenix area. Each year, more than 200 arts education activities involving 38,000 young people from 100 schools and community organizations are presented by the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Education and outreach programs focus on interactive exchanges between children and artists designed to inspire creativity, foster communication and tolerance, promote cultural exchange, create a positive image of self and community, and enrich the overall education experience.
In addition to providing quality arts, cultural and educational experiences for the community, the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts is dedicated to making the arts accessible to everyone. The SCPA believes that the arts are especially important to the personal, emotional and educational development of children, and is proud to provide special programming for children with disabilities.
The SCPA is managed by the Scottsdale Cultural Council, a private non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that provides arts and cultural services for Scottsdale and surrounding communities.
