We are looking for a communications intern to start ASAP, with a passion for writing and social change to help us grow our organization and cause. Through strategic press and influencer outreach, beautifully written op-eds, engagement with our social media audiences, and work with our website you will help ensure that a broad audience feels the passion that is at the core of our organization. You’ll work closely with our advocacy coordinator and organizers to grow the movement and make sure that our resources get into the hands of those who need them the most.
Responsibilities- participate in bi-weekly meetings with the team to discuss organization optimization ideas
* Manage our social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
* PR Support include press outreach-press releases and press advisories
* Create quality content for our website and marketing materials
* Help manage our online advertising, including Google, Facebook, and Retargeted ads
* Work with visual team to assist with video and design production as needed Required Skills/Experience
* Excellent writing ability
* Eagerness to learn
* Press outreach and media relations
* Unshakable positivity
* Self-starter and problem solver
* Design and/or video production skills preferred
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer) required
* Experience with Adobe web elements (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) preferred
* Strong oral and written communications skills. This includes the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen and get clarification, as well as the ability to write clearly and informatively
* Poise and the ability to present him or herself to others with professionalism and maturity
* An energetic and self-motivated attitude
* Attention to detail, multi-tasking skills and the ability to thrive in a deadline driven environment
* Willingness to express and share thoughts and ideas to contribute to team brainstorm sessions
* Ability to work with a flexible schedule in order to be available for scheduled events, including nights, weekends and holidays
* Willingness and eagerness to learn, easily coachable
