The 1-mile walk will take place around the park to promote awareness of canine cancer and fundraise for cancer research to benefit both pets and people. PuppyUp Nashville is a family focused event for all humans and canines to enjoy! This heartwarming and energizing event raises awareness, funds and provides education in the field of comparative oncology and the links between canine and human cancer. It is a day to honor and recognize those who have survived or are battling cancer, and memorialize those whose lives have been lost to this disease. Meet our canine and human heroes, visit our sponsors and vendors, bid on the silent auction, watch K-9 demonstrations from the Special Operations Division (canine section) of the Metro-Nashville Police Department, enjoy music, food by Smokin’ Butzz and No Baked and fun! The Walk is right before Halloween, so we decided to add a fun Dog Costume Contest for all the furbabies who attend the Walk. The costume contest categories are best dressed pup, best dressed couple and pack pick (group costumes & pups). So dress up your pets, yourself, your teams and come on out and join the fun! Costume contest starts at 11:30 am right before the Walk. And speaking of music, we are thrilled to announce Puppy Jam, a celebration of the Nashville music scene, with acoustic performances by local artists (Eric Ryan, Casey Edgar, Chandler Stephens, Page Mackenzie, Ben Cesare and Taylor Marie Wagner.

Our amazing volunteers will help with several tasks to include: setup, registration, merchandise, parking attendants, cleanup

Description

In March 2008 a man and his two dogs embarked on a cross-country trek that was inspired by the loss of his Great Pyrenees to cancer. Some of you have heard the story of Luke Robinson, Hudson and Murphy...

They walked from town to town sharing Malcolm’s story and educating people about cancer in dogs and as they built a nationwide grassroots movement, Mr. Robinson had a vision: 2,000,000 dogs walking simultaneously all across the United States for cancer. If 2 dogs could walk over 2,000 miles surely it was possible!

And that’s how the The Puppy Up Foundation was born and the legacy that started out with just a man who lost his beloved dog continues...
