Do you love dogs? Do you love working hard, and making a difference? If yes... sounds like you might be a PERFECT fit to join our team of volunteers at the Rocket Dog Rescue Urban Sanctuary. We are an entirely volunteer-run operation dedicated to saving homeless and abandoned dogs.
We normally have around 20-30 rescued pups waiting for their forever homes. Our team of Sanctuary volunteers are the ones giving them love, attention, and daily care. This includes giving them time outside, feeding them, cleaning kennels, washing dishes, doing laundry, administering medication, and communicating with the team about any behavior or health observations.
The shifts are 3 hours long. 9am-12pm, and 5-8pm, daily. We ask for you to come at least once per month (most volunteers come weekly) and please commit to at least 6 months of service. You must be at least 16 years old, but we recommend that you be at least 18 due to the nature of the work, and the time commitment.
Yes, it's a big job. But the personal rewards are even bigger. You'll contribute directly to the well-being of dogs in need -- no middle man. You'll form meaningful relationships with incredible animals (and awesome human volunteers as well) and become their trusted allies. You'll learn about their needs and personalities, and help communicate that information to our adoption counselors, so they can be matched with a perfect home.

Rocket Dog Rescue’s ultimate goal is to create a world where all companion animals have loving and permanent homes and where no good natured dogs, no matter what their age, are killed in shelters because they are considered to be surplus or unadoptable.
Description
Rocket Dog Rescue is a volunteer based organization serving the greater Bay Area, dedicated to saving homeless and abandoned dogs from over crowded animal shelters. We also help dogs from other areas that have compelling situations where they are in danger of abuse, neglect or euthanasia. Rocket Dog Rescue places dogs into temporary foster homes where they are socialized, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical or behavioral conditions limiting their adoptability. RDR actively searches for permanent homes for its foster dogs by producing and distributing photo-biographic posters, by hosting an actively updated website and by organizing mobile adoption fairs and special events that provide exposure to potential adopters. Rocket Dog Rescue also provides assistance to individuals and animal rescue groups fostering dogs in need of permanent new homes.
