Be a part of something that is creating real change this holiday season! Volunteer to mix and bake pies this November and December with Uhuru Foods & Pies!

We would love to have you volunteer with Uhuru Foods & Pies. Black Star Industries' Uhuru Foods & Pies are getting ready for our annual pie campaign which is raising money for the Black Power Blueprint.

Right now in St. Louis, the African People’s Socialist Party is using this blueprint to build commerce and sustainability in African communities through African self-determination and self-reliance. The programs include a completed Uhuru House community center, the Jiko community kitchen (opening in 2019), and an outdoor event space is in development to stop gentrification from ravaging every black and indigenous community like we see happening right now in Oakland! Black Power Blueprint can be put in place every African community around the world.

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Uhuru Foods & Pies and that’s why we are calling on you to lend us your skills, time, and leadership to help us make and sell 10,000 pies this November and December! We will be working out of a kitchen - Prep Station @ 2400 Monarch in Alameda, Ca.

No experience necessary. We will train you!

Roast and peel sweet potatoes. Saturday, November 3rd: 8am-1pm, 1pm-6pm, 6pm -11pm, ALL DAY 8am-11pm Sunday, November 4th: 8am-1pm, 1pm-6pm, 6pm-11pm, ALL DAY 8am-11pm

Cut and bake apples, cool down and put in walk-in. Mix pumpkin mixes. Make pie dough. Saturday, November 10th: 8am-1pm, 1pm-6pm, 6pm-10pm, ALL DAY 8am-10pm Sunday, November 11th: 8am-1pm, 1pm-6pm, 6pm-10pm, ALL DAY 8am-10pm Monday, November 12th: 8am-1pm, 1pm-6pm, 6pm-10pm, ALL DAY 8am-10pm

Fill and bake pies, make mixes as needed, box and divide pies in preparation for Saturday morning. Friday, November 16th: 11 am - 4 pm, 4pm-9pm, ALL DAY 11AM-9PM

Fill and bake pies; make mixes as needed; box and divide pies. Pies would be loaded out on Sunday and Monday morning. Sunday, November 18th: 8am-1pm, 1pm-7pm, ALL DAY 8am-7pm

Big Bake. Box and divide pies. Pies would be loaded out on Monday night and Tuesday morning. Monday, November 19th: 7am-1pm, 1pm-7pm, 7pm-12am (midnight), ALL DAY 7am-12am (midnight)

Big Bake. Pies would be loaded out on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.Tuesday, November 20th: 7am-1pm, 1pm-7pm, 7pm-12am (midnight), ALL DAY 7am-12am (midnight) Medium bake: Box and divide pies. Pies would be loaded out on Wednesday night or Thanksgiving morning. (We have pop-ups on Thanksgiving Day)
