The position: We are seeking a website coordinator (on a volunteer basis, unpaid BUT with the potential for a paid part-time job in the future) for an animal rescue, sanctuary, and advocacy group located in the Albany Park/Irving Park/Portage Park neighborhood in Chicago. You will be responsible for updating our existing webpage template and managing content publication.

About us: Famous Fido is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is to reduce the number of homeless pets euthanized each year through our adoption program, community education, and promotion of spaying and neutering. We receive no federal or state funding and rely solely on community donations, fundraising events, and volunteers to support our operations and care for the animals. By volunteering here, you would be contributing meaningfully to the care of dogs and cats, allowing them to live the rest of their lives safe and loved. Your responsibilities will include:

• Updating existing webpage with new content, including photographs and text on a regular basis;
  
  
• Maintaining all links and ensuring that they all direct traffic to relevant, up-to-date pages;
  
  
• Increasing online marketing presence using analytics;
  
  
• Consulting regularly with the executive director about changes and updates to the website;
• Maintaining a cohesive design for Famous Fido’s website;
  
  
• Streamlining navigation on the website;
  
  
• Making other changes to the existing webpage template on an as-needed basis; and
  
  
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Estimated time commitment: About 20 hours per week.

Qualifications:

• Enthusiastic commitment to our mission and the animals we serve;
  
  
• Excellent working knowledge of Wordpress;

• Working knowledge regarding integration of social media with the website;
  
  
• Excellent writing and grammar skills, as well as the ability to effectively proofread copy before publishing it;

• Excellent understanding of internet analytics and how to maximize traffic to the website; and

• Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
