ORGANIZATION: FLORIDA AQUARIUM INC

Description

As a Maintenance Volunteer you will assist in maintaining buildings, grounds and equipment at the Center for Conservation. Work will be primarily outside performing general grounds upkeep.

Duties

Grounds

  • Weeding around buildings, structures, walking paths, roadways and ponds
  • Debris Pick up
  • Landscaping (seeding, planting, mulch installation)
  • Organizing storage yard equipment

Buildings

  • Cleaning decks and building exteriors with power washer or broom.
  • Occasional light fixture cleaning
  • Unboxing and organizing equipment and supplies
  • Painting touchups of interior and exterior walls

Schedule

Hours available any time between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Availability of openings vary. The ability to commit to a minimum of six months is required.

Expectations

  • Work well with a group or independently
  • Ability to complete tasks with low to moderate supervision while following directions
  • Take pride in workmanship.
  • Ability to perform work with basic hand tools (hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches)

Typical Physical Requirements

  • Possibility of standing and walking during entire shift
  • Climbing stairs and ladders
  • Carrying/lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in all weather conditions including heat, humidity, rain, cold and dust while indoors
  • Bending and kneeling while working
