Are you a planner? An organizer? Do you enjoy supporting organizations that strive to make a difference in the local community?

The Position : Assist Columbia Slough Watershed Council staff with their annual Gala event! The Gala Event Specialist Volunteer will assist in many aspects of planning and organizing the Columbia Slough Watershed Council’s annual Slough Celebration Gala event on March 8th, 2018. Volunteers will be helping assemble event promotion materials and decor, assisting with auction item donations from potential event sponsors as well as preparing systems and logistics of the event, and working with database software. Interested volunteers will have the opportunity to attend and volunteer at the event!

Slough Celebration Gala : The annual Gala is the primary fundraiser for the Columbia Slough Watershed Council. It is attended by local government officials, businesses and other supporters of the Slough, i t is also our annual awards ceremony where we celebrate individuals and businesses making a difference in our watershed.

Your commitment: Between 2-7 hours per week , from early November 2018 - March 8th, 2018 . Volunteers may commit for just one month of this period if necessary.

Volunteer Interviews: All volunteers must complete an informal interview over the phone or in person.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contact and follow up with local businesses by phone regarding requests for event support
  • Assist in preparation of silent auction
  • Assist with data entry, mailings and printing of event materials
  • Assist with developing event materials (as skills and comfort level allows)
  • Promote event using online resources
  • Organize event registrations
  • Assist with the day of event logistics including set-up, registration of guests and other duties as needed (if available for event volunteering)
  • Assist in RSVP process and creation of seating arrangements

Qualifications:

  • Interest in nonprofit fundraising
  • Ability to use Google Suite
  • Interest in large scale event planning

Location and Transportation: The CSWC office is located at Whitaker Ponds Nature Park (7040 NE Columbia Blvd Portland OR.) This site is accessible by car, bike and the #75 Trimet bus line. There may be opportunities to work remotely as well.
