New Spire Arts needs bilingual (English and ASL) volunteers to help out at our events which are diverse and inclusive. This is not a translating job, but rather an opportunity to interact with the Deaf community when they are present, to welcome them. There will always be a professional ASL interpreter at our events. Your may have additional duties, such as ushering, greeting, cashiering, or concession management, all under the supervision of a New Spire Arts staff person.
This is a great opportunity to see the performing arts in action, and behind-the-scenes. We have two sites, our education center at 115 E. Church Street, and our new theatre at 15 W. Patrick Street, scheduled to open in January 2019. You may be working at either site, depending on the performance schedule.
Volunteers get benefits, which can be in the form of 2 tickets for each performance you work, or (possibly) a free class. Training is provided. Free parking is located behind our building, accessed from Church Street via Chapel Alley.
Whether you'd like to practice a skill, learn a new one, or enjoy performances, New Spire Arts is the place to be for volunteers in Frederick. Come visit us to see what it's like to get involved with a growing arts organization!
