Plans are now underway for the region V Science and Engineering Fair. It will be held on Saturday Feb 16, 2019. We need your assistance because of your expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. We invite you to serve as a judge on Saturday.

Your participation will demonstrate how important these children’s efforts are, and how you, as an expert, in your discipline can support them in their work.

The regional Science and Engineering Fair for region 5 will consist of about hundreds of project presentations. This uniquely designed program allows students to teach and express themselves to discover something exciting and new - on their own terms. Part of each student’s task is to identify and choose the tools he or she will need to conduct and complete a project. Over time, as students complete their projects, the process yields more mature, self-confident, skilled, and competitive young leaders who have career goals, and the preparation, discipline, and drive to attain those goals.

Eligibility criteria to be Judge in the fair:

1-A minimum of four year college degree
2-Willingness to give back to the community via encouraging young scientist
to become future leaders in the STEM careers.

TMSA's educational program will provide opportunities for all students and close the gap for the disadvantaged students with the proven math and science programs that work for at-risk students, as well as academically gifted students.

Description

Triad Math and Science Academy (TMSA) is a charter school in Guilford County under NC Charter School Law. Charter schools are publicly funded through taxpayer money and privately governed by a non-profit corporation. TMSA has open enrollment with no discrimination, no religious association, and no tuition.

TMSA employs an inquiry-based curriculum, which is research-based and has been proven through extensive field studies across the nation. These studies showed that the curriculum has improved student learning and has been found appropriate for all student populations, including at-risk of academic failure and academically-gifted students. TMSA offers free after-school and weekend tutoring programs for students who are in need of extra help to pass their classes and tests and prepares its students for regional, statewide, national, and international competitions such as Math Counts, American Mathematics Competitions (AMC), Science Fairs and International Science Olympiads.
