Wild Red-crowned Amazon

SoCal Parrot is a 501(c)3 non-profit group based in San Diego, which works to rescue, rehabilitate, and care for southern California's wild parrot flocks. The injured parrots we rescue come from Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego; we need reliable transport for these birds to safely arrive back to our facility in Jamul.

Rescue calls come in at various times on any day of the week. For long-distance (non-San Diego area) rescues, we typically plan transport a day in advance.

We are currently seeking San Diego-based volunteers who would be willing to pick up an injured or orphaned parrot (from another volunteer or rescue facility) and deliver it to another volunteer further south.

SoCal Parrot will provide you with all of the training and paperwork you'll need to be successful in this role. We do require you to have a reliable vehicle, flexible schedule, and strong ability to communicate.

** PLEASE NOTE: This role requires availability and willingness to drive! Rescue coverage for this area spans from Mission Viejo (Orange County) as far south as La Mesa.
