Our after-school program helps low-income students in grades 1-6 in the Herndon area Mon-Thus, 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Herndon Neighborhood Resource Center, 1086 Elden Street, northwest corner of Elden and Alabama Streets. We focus on helping children with any homework they might have, plus helping them improve their basic reading, writing, and math skills. Our goal is to help our students develop habits that will lead them toward success in school. Many of our students' parents do not speak English, or do not speak it well enough to help their children with homework -- but they do recognize how important school success is.And we're so glad we can be here to help.

The main skill our students need is READING / WRITING. We know this from our own experience, and hear it from their teachers, too. We need YOUR help to read with them -- not to teach reading, but just to enjoy the books and stories with them. You will listen to them read, take turns reading, and talk about the stories and characters!

We especially need help on TUESDAYS. Are you available?

If the program sounds good, but Tuesdays won't work for you, please contact me, and we can place you on another day!
