Who we are:

We are a one-stop, comprehensive website that houses all of the resources and information newcomers need to build successful lives for themselves and their families here in America. We offer free GED and citizenship classes and a searchable resource database.

Our content has been curated by resettled refugees and immigrants and is written for ESL viewers and those with limited formal educations. Programs are further enhanced by both automated and manual translations and the latest in multi-modal learning techniques. We use the proliferation of mobile technology and the power of the internet to provide support where and when it is needed.

Help refugees and immigrants

We are looking for native-level proficiency individuals who would like to translate our information pages, social media posts, and other content. It is important to us that our users read high-quality content so they can find what they are looking for easily. Additionally, we publish timely information about laws and changed in the political landscape, so newcomers know how or if they will be affected.

Languages we are looking for:

  • Spanish
  • French
  • Swahili
  • Karen
  • Pashto
  • Vietnamese
  • Somali
  • Amharic
  • Tigrinya
  • Chinese
  • Nepali
  • Russian

Volunteer remotely and work whenever suits you: Almost all our volunteers work remotely. Volunteers play a huge role in building our content, helping translate our resources, and spreading the word about the Refugee Center Online. We can work with your schedule to send you the right amount of materials to be translated. If you need to take a beak for any reason, that is OK. You can email us to let us know and resume when you are ready.

Flexible duration

We would like volunteers to commit to translating for at least 1 year. After that time period, you can stop anytime.

What you get

  • The satisfaction of knowing you are helping newcomers have successful resettlement experiences
  • An addition to your resume
  • A reference: if you are job searching and have been with us 6 months or more, our volunteer coordinator will serve as a professional reference
HOW TO APPLY

Please fill out our volunteer form and someone will get back to you shortly.
