Assist Blackstone Valley Tourism Council in providing Visitor information by staffing the 295 Visitor Center in Lincoln, RI.
Duties include answer Visitor information requests either by phone or in person; provide Visitor information and or make proper referrals; keep information up-to-date, maintain Visitor logs and records of phone requests; stay up to date on events and activities in the Blackstone Valley, RI. Attend volunteer meetings, training and optional tours as scheduled.
Qualifications: Knowledge of the Blackstone Valley region, customer service experience, ability to read maps, knowledge of visitor attractions; accommodations; activities and events. In addition pleasant phone personality and ability to work with the general public and Tourism partners including state DEM staff and National Park Service staff.
Training: Orientation and on-the-job training.
Commitment: A minimum of two three-hour shifts during Visitor Center hours from 9 am to 3 pm Sunday - Saturday.
Visitor Center Hours: November-April Monday-Friday 7 am - 3:30 pm May-October Sunday-Saturday,

Organization
The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council is one of six regional tourism agencies created by state law in 1985. Its designated coverage is the Northern Rhode Island Tourism District comprised of: Pawtucket, Central Falls, and Woonsocket, and the towns of Cumberland, Lincoln, North Smithfield, Smithfield, Glocester, and Burrillville.
The Council is a 501(c)(3) educational, tax-exempt organization, supported in part by regional hotel room tax revenues via state law. Its Board of Directors represents tourism development interests throughout the region. Additional financial support comes from the public and private sector, charitable organizations, grants, and its own revenue-producing activities.
