The San Diego River Garden is in Mission Valley right at the edge of the River. This garden showcases native varietals and low water use plants. It is sure to inspire with showy colors, fragrant blooms, and bird and butterfly attractors!
Join us for a San Diego River Garden Work Park as we care for this wonderful native plant garden! Volunteers of all ages can assist with watering, weeding, trail maintenance, litter removal, trimming, and more. Your work will help to keep this special place beautiful for visitors and maintain native habitats for birds, insects, and lizards.All tools and supplies provided. No experience needed. Community service hours can be verified. Please dress in gardening clothes. Closed-toe shoes are required. Sun protection and water highly recommended. The San Diego River Park Foundation is dedicated to fostering stewardship and appreciation of the region’s namesake waterway. In order to protect and enhance the San Diego River as a place for recreation, habitat, and nature discovery, we are dedicated to engaging people to be stewards of the River and working towards the vision of a 52 mile, river-long system of parks, open spaces, and community places.
Description
We organize many different volunteer stewardship activities each month. River Cleanups, native plant gardening, habitat restoration, volunteer leadership, water quality testing, outreach and education, special event committees, technical committees and more.
